Exploration of the Mandelbrot set with Fractal eXtreme.
This video is a high-definition recalculation of a video posted by nosro1. The original was 640×480, 30 fps, with no anti-aliasing, and took six months to render. This version is 1280×720, 60 fps, with 3×3 anti-aliasing, and took eight days to render, thanks to frame interpolation, well optimized math code, and some other tricks.
More details on this here: Really Deep Fractal Zoom Movie – Much Faster.
How much faster could a GPU do it? 1080p?
trippy!
Ultrafractal is much a better program.
My GPU viewer can do this easily in realtime, at least unitil doubles run out of precision, see http://users.skynet.be/fquake/
Jan, your GPU viewer does not.
1, Do deep zooms-arbitrary precision arithmetic
2, Anti-alias
3, allow user-definable palette
4, save the co-ordindates
5, save the picture
6, save as a movie
Apart from that, sure, your mandelbrot viewer can do ‘this’.
