Overview of new features in SDK 1.2.162
- Final versions of the set of Vulkan, GLSL and SPIR-V extensions that integrate ray tracing into the existing Vulkan framework

- The Vulkan Configurator (vkconfig) has been updated to improve quality and stability. See the fixes included in this SDK here. See the Vulkan Configurator documentation for more information.

- Addition of the GFXReconstruct optimize utility. See the GFXReconstruct documentation for more details. Note: GFXReconstruct does not currently support the ray tracing API and enabling capture for an application that uses the ray tracing API will cause the application to crash.

- Addition of GPU assisted validation support for bounds checking of accesses from shaders of uniform, storage, uniform texel and storage texel buffers.

- Support for the following new extensions

  Ray Tracing
  VK_KHR_acceleration_structure
  VK_KHR_ray_tracing_pipeline
  VK_KHR_ray_query
  VK_KHR_pipeline_library
  VK_KHR_deferred_host_operations

- VK_NV_fragment_shading_rate_enums
- VK_QCOM_rotated_copy_commands
- VK_KHR_fragment_shading_rate
- VK_KHR_shader_terminate_invocation
- VK_EXT_device_memory_report
- VK_EXT_shader_image_atomic_int64

- Bug fixes

- Improved validation coverage. VUID validation coverage documentation (validation_error_database.csv and validation_error_database.html) has been updated to represent the validation layer VUID coverage status.

SDK 1.2.162.1 Addendum:
The following features have been released in the 1.2.162.1 version of the SDK:

- Synchronization Validation is now at release "1.0", meaning it is no longer considered an "alpha" release. See the Synchronization Validation documentation.

- The Vulkan Configurator has been updated to expose devsim JSON configuration files to be used with the portability subset extension. The validation layers can also be used to validate the VK_KHR_portability_subset extension.

- GFXReconstruct has been updated to fix a replay issue that may result in a crash after a vkAllocateDescriptorSets failure with VK_ERROR_OUT_OF_POOL_MEMORY.
