The AMD EDID Utility is a useful tool that can read the EDID information from connected display devices and save it to a text or binary file. EDID is a data structure provided by digital displays to describe its capabilities to a video source such as a Graphic Processing Unit (GPU). It thereby enables a personal computer to know what kinds of monitors are connected to it and thus the capabilities of the identified monitor.
In some cases incorrect display behavior can be caused by wrong data being stored in the EDID data structure. Using this utility, a user may save the EDID information so it can be used later by AMD or OEMs to emulate a particular display device, or to inspect display EDID content, which can be a helpful diagnostic tool.
