CopperCube, the 3D editor for creating 3D Flash, WebGL, Windows and Mac applications has been released today in version 2.5.
This new release adds support for Adobes just released Flash Molehill API (which is still in beta), that is real, hardware accelerated 3D graphics. CopperCube now is the first 3D editor to support Molehill, so users can try out to create real, fast 3D Flash applications without programming. In order to try out this new feature, you need to install the beta Flash Player Incubator with the Molehill API from Of course, CopperCube also publishes 3D Flash applications without this player and then only uses the slower 3D features from Flash Player 10.
CopperCube is a 3D editor with deployment targets for Flash (.swf), WebGL (.html), Windows (.exe) and Mac (.app). You can create everything from simple 3D model viewers to games with it without the need to write one single line of code (=no programming necessary). The editor imports 23 different 3D file formats and can additionally be scripted using JavaScript (WebGL), Squirrel (Mac OS and Windows) and in Flash using ActionScript 3.
CopperCube is ideal for creating 3D games, educational programs, architectural visualizations, military simulations, product configurators, e-learning applications and 3D prototypes. Basically, users only import their 3D models from any 3D modelling software like Max, Maya, Lightwave, Truespace or others, (they also may create very simple scenes in the CopperCube editor itself), then select a publishing target and hit the 'publish' button to create their 3D application. Adding cameras with specific input methods (like a first person shooter control) and behaviors makes it possible to create fully interactive applications with this editor, without the need to program one single line of code.
The new release 2.5 also adds some new highly detailed animated character prefabs, an improved physics engine, a metrics tool for skeletal animated meshes and a feature to automatically embedd textures in .ccb files. The CopperCube community is currently growing every month, and this release has been one of the most anticipated so far.

Ninja is a small build system closest in spirit to Make. Ninja is developed by Evan Martin, one of the Google Chrome developers.

Ninja is yet another build system. It takes as input the interdependencies of files (typically source code and output executables) and orchestrates building them, quickly.

Ninja joins a sea of other build systems. Its distinguishing goal is to be fast. It is born from my work on the Chromium browser project, which has over 30,000 source files and whose other build systems (including one built from custom non-recursive Makefiles) can take ten seconds to start building after changing one file. Ninja is under a second.

Carmack points out that at age 40, he’s not the gamer he used to be. “I try not to guide our content decisions very much now,” he says. “I take care of the technical side of things… I’m not our market.”

“The only time I have to play games, I play Wii games with my six-year-old son,” he says. “I’m into all the different Mario games… I’m not all that into the latest Killzone or other [first-person shooters] out there.”

Carmack’s been working hard to complete his new game, the post-apocalyptic shooter Rage. It’s due to hit stores on September 13th, for Microsoft Windows, Apple’s Mac OS X, Sony’s PlayStation 3, and Microsoft’s Xbox 360.
