Title: Changing path for GPU Caps Viewer report path
Post by: acpreble on June 27, 2023, 12:33:33 AM
Is there a way to divert the GPU Caps Viewer report path to a user-specific location? If not, is this something that can be added?

The use case is a little awkward. I had somebody here running two instances simultaneously (CPU vs OpenCL, I think it is). The reports step on each other, so having that configurable between the instances would solve it. I'll also forward along any head slaps you want me to forward to the person trying to run two instances simultaneously.  :P

The example: _start_export_txt_report.bat
explains, but in this case GPU Caps Viewer quits immediately.

For your use case copy the folder GPU_Caps_Viewer to GPU_Caps_Viewer2

Start c:\Program Files (x86)\Geeks3D\GPU_Caps_Viewer\GPU_Caps_Viewer.exe
Then start c:\Program Files (x86)\Geeks3D\GPU_Caps_Viewer2\GPU_Caps_Viewer.exe

It has all the smell of a workaround but I guess I do what I gotta do.

One possible solution is to create separate user accounts on your computer for running each instance of GPU Caps Viewer. This way, each user account will have its own specific location for the reports, eliminating the issue of reports overlapping. By logging in to separate user accounts, you can ensure that the reports generated by each instance of GPU Caps Viewer are stored in separate directories.
