LunarG has released new Vulkan SDKs for Windows, Linux, and macOS based on the header.
Overview of new additions to the SDK
LunarG released new SDKs for Vulkan that include the most recent extensions and a new Khronos Validation Layer. Much of the documentation for this SDK can be found in the Getting Started Guide, located in the Documentation directory of the SDK and on the Vulkan SDK Download site.
Overview of new additions to Vulkan SDK
  • A single, more efficient Khronos Validation Layer that replaces five legacy validation layers and the standard_validation meta-layer. More info here.
  • Better handling of implicit layers by vkconfig
  • Improved validation coverage and bug fixes
  • Since the release of SDK, the following new extensions have been added to the Vulkan spec and may be supported by a Vulkan device. To query extensions available to a given physical device, call vkEnumerateDeviceExtensionProperties() or contact the hardware vendor.
    • VK_AMD_display_native_hdr
    • VK_EXT_full_screen_exclusive
    • VK_EXT_host_query_reset
    • VK_EXT_metal_surface
    • VK_EXT_pipeline_creation_feedback
    • VK_EXT_ycbcr_image_arrays
    • VK_KHR_surface_protected_capabilities
    • VK_NVX_image_view_handle
For the macOS SDK, the VK_LAYER_LUNARG_api_dump layer is now available with this release. This utility layer prints API calls, parameters, and values to the identified output stream. See the VK_LAYER_LUNARG_api_dump layer documentation for more information on how to enable and use this layer.
Please note that RenderDoc is no longer included in the Vulkan SDK. Go to the RenderDoc download page for additional info.
