H4shG3n 0.4.0 Hash Code Generator released

H4shG3n Hash Code Generator

1 – Release Notes

H4shG3n is a simple hash code generator made with GeeXLab. H4shG3n 0.4.0 has been updated with the latest GeeXLab 0.43.2 and fixes few minor bugs. On Linux, the copy to clipboard function now works (coding a copy/paste function with X11/Xlib is a real adventure!).

H4shG3n computes the MD5, SHA-1 and SHA-256 hash codes that are popular on download sites. To get the hash codes, just drop a file on H4shG3n. See HERE for more details about the functions used in this small app.

sadly to say but it is VERY slow!

    About 21-22 seconds for a 1,7GB file for CRC32, MD5, SHA-1 and SHA-256
tested 10 times, always the same result

compared with “HashCheck Shell Extension”, same file but CRC32, MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 AND SHA-512
took about 8 seconds but WITH SHA-512!!

yep, I agree with you, the hash code routines in GeeXLab are not the fastest. I needed hash codes few years ago for checking small files (few MB) and I took some some basic implementations. But I will try to speed up these routines in a next version!
