2 – Release Notes

Updated (2019.10.01): version 1.42.6

GPU Caps Viewer 1.42.6 is a maintenance release and fixes a bug in the Vulkan renderer (GeeXLab 0.29.3) that leads to a crash during the resizing of a window. Some SPIR-V shaders have been updated (vk-tessellation demo).

Updated (2019.09.25): version 1.42.5

GPU Caps Viewer 1.42.5 is a maintenance release and fixes bugs in the Vulkan renderer (GeeXLab demos, see GeeXLab 0.29.2 release notes).

Updated (2019.07.04): version 1.42.4

GPU Caps Viewer 1.42.4 adds the support of GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER and RTX 2070 SUPER. A bug has been fixed in the Seascape demo (Vulkan) and the OpenGL version of Seascape has been added. GPU Shark has been updated to latest version 0.14.0.

Version 1.42.0

This new version of GPU Caps Viewer brings the support of NVIDIA GeForce GTX 16 Series (GTX 1660 Ti and GTX 1660) as well as a partial support of AMD Radeon VII (partial support because I added some monitoring code without testing it on a Radeon VII).

I updated the Vulkan plugin (used for GeeXLab demos) to fix some warnings and errors detected by the validation layer (Vulkan SDK) for recent graphics drivers.

Another bug in the Seascape demo in Vulkan has been fixed for Intel GPUs.

The seascape demo in previous GPU Caps Viewer (with Intel driver v6577) with the bug:

4 – What is GPU Caps Viewer?

GPU Caps Viewer is a graphics card information utility focused on the OpenGL, Vulkan, OpenCL and CUDA API level support of the main (primary) graphics card. For Vulkan, OpenCL and CUDA, GPU Caps Viewer details the API support of each capable device available in the system. GPU Caps Viewer offers also a simple GPU monitoring facility (clock speed, temperature, GPU usage, fan speed) for NVIDIA GeForce and AMD Radeon based graphics cards.

Is GPU Caps Viewer will support for WINDOWS RedStone 3?
While tried to run Start_all_benchmarks batch file, error is coming.Error msg:”GPU Caps viewer :Video Card utility (Open GL and Open CL) ahs stopped working .A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. “Could you please confirm?

Version 1.42.2 crashes in barebones (no store, minimal services) Windows 10 (Oct 2018 release) no matter what compatibility settings I use. Batch file no log, also fails.

    Version 1.25.0 works fine.

Version 1.31.1 crashes with same error as 1.42.2 (GPU Caps Viewer blah, blah, blah, has stopped working) 1.33.1 and 1.34.4 Vulkan (vkz) sub program crashes.

I thought it was caused by Vulkan capabilities viewing but 1.31.1 doesn’t seem to have that app either.

    Shark works fine.

Let’s do a test: download GeeXLab for Windows 64-bit (here: https://geeks3d.com/geexlab/downloads/ ). Unzip the archive where you want and run GeeXLab. If it crashes, go in the plugins/ folder and rename the following file: plugin_gxc_vulkan_x64.dll with any name. Try again to launch GeeXLab. If it works, there is a problem with your Vulkan support. In that case try to remove / reinstall the graphics driver. Let me know.

I found my A12-9800E (Radeon™ R7 Series) use v1.42.2.0 to run 3D demo (Vulkan – Shadertoy > Geomechanical) will crash, but v1.39.0.0 pass.
    Is it a bug?

Driver version 26.20.1015.9003 that is available on AMD website.
I tried with old version 24.20.13019.1008 / 25.20.15011.1004 got same result.

        1. I think it maybe related with “kx framework v.0.1.8”, since 1.39.0.0 use “kx framework v.0.1.7” is fine.
        2. Others it seem cannot read GPU loader and GPU temp, it maybe relate with [! updated: ZoomGPU 1.23.1 (GPU monitoring library)] ?
