NVIDIA GTX400 Tech-Demos Available

Tech-demo: Supersonic Sled
Supersonic Sled

The tech-demos for the new GeForce GTX 480 (and GTX 470) are available.

Actually only two demos are available (Supersonic Sled and Design Garage). The two other we saw in different marketing buzz, the Water demo and the Hair demo, are not available yet. Too bad…

Anyway, GTX 400 tech-demos can be downloaded HERE.

Garage Design Tech-demo

The Garage Design is a demo based on OptiX, NVIDIA’s real time and programmable ray tracer optimized for GPUs.

I tested the demo on a GTX 260:

Tech-demo: Design garage
After 10 seconds

Tech-demo: Design garage
After 10 seconds – detail

Tech-demo: Design garage
After around 2 minutes

Tech-demo: Design garage
After around 2 minutes – detail

Supersonic Sled Tech-demo

Supersonic Sled is a demo that uses PhysX (for rigid bodies and particles), CUDA (for fluid simulation, smoke) and Direct3D 11 (rendering and tessellation).

At the time of writing, Supersonic Sled download link seems to be dead…

Can’t wait to get a GTX 480 to play with these demos 😉

Maybe you can hack or fool it to use a GTX 2xx card for the PhysX\CUDA and Radeon 58xx for the DX11?

anyone know how you can get these demos to run on other cards? my card fits all the specs required, apart from actually being a gtx 200. All late(ish) gpus should be able to run this demo, regardless of the card name ffs. At least let the gpu try and play it! the detail software side, so what ever gpu you have, thats considering the directx matches, you will produce the same quality image, maybe just at a slightly less framerate. This irritates me so much

Still too much noise in the image even in the second one you can’t use that for production rendering
