Rebranding seems a pleasant feeling for GPU makers. After NVIDIA with its GeForce 310, it’s now to AMD to try video cards rebranding (but this times it’s for notebook graphics cards!).
The new Mobility Radeon HD 5145 and Mobility Radeon HD 5165 are based respectively on the 55-nm, DirectX 10.1 Mobility Radeon HD 4600 and 4800 GPUs.
Go beyond HD with ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5165 graphics. This feature-rich multimedia powerhouse is based on the award winning ATI Radeon™ HD 4000 series 3D architecture.
Mobility Radeon HD 5145 specs:
– 80 stream processors…
– 242M transistors / 55nm
– API 3D: OpenGL 2 and DirectX 10.1
Mobility Radeon HD 5165 specs:
– 320 stream processors…
– 514M transistors / 55nm
– API 3D: OpenGL 2 and DirectX 10.1
AMD’s specifications say these GPUs are only OpenGL 2.0 but it’s wrong, because HD 4000 series support OpenGL 3.0 (and OpenGL 3.2 with the latest graphics drivers).
