Gigabyte Radeon HD 4850 1GB Passive

GIGABYTE has released a Radeon HD 4850 with 1Gb of graphics memory and, most important, with a really efficient passive cooling system. Gigabyte calls it Multi-Core cooling system.

This cooler is really efficient because it’s able to keep temperatures very
low: 37°C in idle and 61°C under load. Under load, it’s common to see temperature above 80°C for a Radeon HD 4850.

Only addon cooler cools down to 40C.

I have a similar issue! I have the one with 1gb DDR3 memory and last night playing DDO, Rivatuner reported my core temp went to 108c and memory to 112 degrees c! My card is cooking itself to heat death and I’m not sure how to stop it. I may need to invest in an aftermarket cooler to get air flow under control. This is with two 120mm case fans in my rig and two fans in the PSU pulling heat up and out of the case, BTW.
