ATI FirePro V8700 Workstation Graphics Card

ATI FirePro V8700 Graphics Card

ATI’s FirePro series is the rival of NVIDIA’s Quadro series. FirePro V8700 is the flagship FirePro model. This card is based on the RV770 GPU and comes with 1Gb of graphics memory, twice the amount available on gaming cards (Radeon HD 4000-series). You can get a FirePro V8700 for around 1,500$US (the previous generation, FireGL V8650, was around 2,800$US…). One thing to notice is the FirePro V8700 has a less memory than FireGL V8650 (2Gb). Maybe a FirePro V8750 with 2Gb of graphics memory is reserved for the future…

FirePro V8700 features:
– GPU: RV770 @ 750MHz / 55nm
– Shader processors: 800
– Memory: 1Gb GDDR5 256-bit @ 850MHz DDR
– Direct3D 10.1 and OpenGL 2.1
– Texture units: 40
– ROPs: 16
