[Tested and Burned] ASUS Radeon HD 6950 DirectCU II Review (A card for Overclockers!)

ASUS HD 6950 DirectCU II review index

7 – ASUS HD 6950 DirectCU II Conclusion

This Radeon HD 6950 has one major drawback: the 3-slot height VGA cooler. It’s no a problem for me, I love massive coolers but many users won’t appreciate this card for its bulky cooler.

But this big cooler does its job very well: even under highly stressed situation like FurMark 1.9.0 burn-in test, with overclocking settings, the noise level of the cooler is very very low thanks to ASUS DirectCU cooling technology.

ASUS’s HD 6950 DC2 has an incredible overclocking headroom: I reached 950MHz for the GPU and I feel that higher clock speeds are possible without too much problem. But only a BIOS modification will make it possible to go beyond 950MHz.

With a GPU @ 950MHz, this HD 6950 is faster than a GeForce GTX 480 or a Radeon HD 6970 in 3DMark11.

For a gamer that essentially plays Direct3D games, this is a MUST-HAVE graphics card.

And for hardcore gamers that need a graphics hardware with much overclocking caps, ASUS’s HD 6950 DirectCU II is your card!
