I got report this to AMD to beef up there drivers for next move…so the goal is 50 FPS in Heaven with 4X AA, 16X anisotropic i hope that 6970 or 6990 will reach that.

Well that is inside rumoured specs that the 580 GTX is only 10-20% faster than GTX480. Which makes it pretty much another epic failure!

The graphic HD 5870 Xfire versus GTX 580 SLI is made to deceive.
When the performance of the nVidia card is two times that of AMD one, the green bar is six times greater than the red one.
When nVidia’s bar is 2x the bar of AMD, actually, the performance is only 1,2x, or 20%, that of AMD.
I dislike this kind of marketing.

PS.: I hate the 2D capability of ATI/AMD, it sucks in Windows 7, even
    with my 5870.

If GTX 580 really is faster, while being cooler, … I don’t see how that can be a failure.

  7. Athlonite

@toto where did it say it was cooler it just says quieter which just means either a better fan design or it runs slower I’d say it’s going to be hotter than a 480

    GTX 580 FAIL !
2x GTX460 is the best choice ! CXB
    nvidia sucks.

I used the same settings you did with my gtx 580 overclocked to 950-core and 2150-mem and I got 55.4fps with a 1395 score. Highest temp I got was 75C.
