The chinese website it168.com has managed to get some picture of the Radeon HD 6870 PCB (printed circuit board). We can see the VRM on the left part of the PCB (seems that a 3-phase VRM feeds the GPU and another phase is reserved for the memory). The board is equipped with two 6-pin power connectors meaning the HD 6870 has a TDP ranging around 150 to 200W…

    Wasn’t this bad with Nvidia for 5000 series…

    They put the VRM AFTER the gpu, so the fresh air will cool the gpu directly, without been heated up before by anything. Clever!

    I thought in modern GPU’s VRM was the hottest part ,now I wonder why they decided to use hot air to cool them.

    Hope they designed some heatsink for it.
