Anyway, definitly some normal map + clever noise here (fractal noise ?) can give the same feeling.
The site is up again! I don’t know about clever, but it’s a spherical procedural texture with a combination of radius values and 3d perlin noise. (which can be examined here: http://www.inear.se/?p=410)
