Expreview has tested ATI’s new baby, the Radeon HD 4770 (and at the time of writing, this test seems to be the first!) and results are rather promising. When challenging with Radeon HD 4850, Radeon HD 4770 is 5.66% behind, with honor. And Radeon HD 4770 outperforms GeForce 9800 GT in most of time with clear advantage, by 54% in ETQW 1920*1200/8xAA/16xF.

Radeon HD 4770 is a 100$US video card and here are its main features:

  • GPU: RV740 @ 750MHz / 40nm / 826 million transistors
  • Shader cores: 640 (or better: 128 vec5 cores)
  • Memory: GDDR5 @ 1600MHz / 128-bit
  • Texture units: 32
  • ROPs: 16
  • 3D APIs: OpenGL 2/3 and DirectX 10.1

ATI Radeon HD 4770: GPU-Z

In FurMark loading test, the Radeon HD 4770 (reference board) power consumption drops by around 27% compared to Radeon HD 4850 (ref board):
