3D Engine: Irrlicht 1.4.2 Available




Irrlicht Engine is a cross-platform high performance realtime 3D engine written in C++ and using Direct3D or OpenGL for hardware acceleration. Irrlicht is available for Windows95, 98, NT, 2000, XP, Linux and MacOS.
Changelog:

  • Unified handling of the zwrite enable flag for transparent materials for compatibilit with older Irrlicht versions. There are now functions in IVideoDriver and ISceneManager to enable/disable ZWrite flags of transparent materials.
  • Improvements of the file loaders, OpenGL renderer, memory usage
  • Optimization of the skeletal animation rendering code
  • Tons of other bug fixes and small improvements

    Doesn’t look like a modern 3d engine, looks more like quake 2. It might be free and okay for educational purposes, but using this for anything you wish to gain popularity seems like shooting yourself in the foot. I believe that a product like unigine is more up to standard, and an indie lincense is actually affordable.
