NVIDIA ForceWare 177.83 XP/Vista

NVIDIA has released a new set of drivers that add support for PhysX acceleration on all GeForce 8-series, 9-series and 200-series GPUs with a minimum of 256MB dedicated graphics memory. The PhysX System Software 8.08.01 is automatically installed with this driver package that explains the big size of the driver 😉

    I just wanted to know if anyone has gotten this to install for laptop gpus yet. Not running a particularly powerful gpu (8600m gs 256mb ddr2) but I would like to know the benefits of being able to run physx on it. Give me SOME hope that this gpu still has life in it!

    (upgrading isn’t an option, and I dropped $1500 cold on the laptop)

    Thanx!

    Fabian, try FluidMark. You can compare the result with GeForce PhysX and with pure CPU. Be sure to install forceware 177.83 first.

    @JeGX

    I’m only assuming that you mean that I in fact CAN install these drivers for laptop gpu.

    I have it running now, everything’s great! Thanx rocco for taking the plunge! I’m getting 7700 in 3dmark 03, 4700 in 3dmark 3dmark 05. Getting Graw2 to try that out as well.

    (…I’m dreaming of a quad crossfire AMD HD-4850/ ATI Phenom x4 9850 2.5ghz…)
